Fairmont Launches Chinese Menu

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced a Chinese menu that will be introduced at 60 of its international hotels throughout 2012.

Authentic Chinese dishes and teas will be offered on the hotels’ restaurant menus, as well as new service elements such as hot and cold towels and chopsticks. Groups will have the option of having meals served in the traditional Chinese family style, with a variety of dishes on the table to share. Hotel staff will also be briefed on appropriate etiquette to make Chinese guests feel more comfortable. 

According to the China’s National Tourism Administration, more than 77 million Chinese travellers are expected to take a trip overseas in 2012. Speakers at the International Luxury Travel Market Asia, held in Shanghai last month, suggested that the hoteliers that welcome Chinese travellers with home comforts will have the greatest success with this growing market. 

The InterContinental Hotels Group has gone one step further, announcing in March 2012 that it will open the first international brand of hotels designed specifically for the Chinese traveller. Hualuxe is expected to debut in China at the end of 2013.
