German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has further developed his brand with a new affordable diffusion line called Karl by Karl Lagerfeld, launching next month.

Largerfeld – who is also creative director and head designer of Parisian fashion house Chanel – has designed the contemporary, youthful collection with a more accessible price point in mind. Prices range from $50 (£32) for a canvas tote bag, to more than $1,000 (£644) for big-ticket items like leather jackets.

The 70-piece collection will be sold exclusively in an online pre-launch through luxury fashion e-tailer Net-a-Porter from January 25 2012. From February 2012, the collection will also be launched on Karllagerfeld.com. Three looks from the debut collection were unveiled yesterday, with sequins, glossy black leather, tailoring, detachable collars and fingerless leather gloves demonstrating the line's edgy, rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic.

Net-a-Porter is currently offering subscribers the opportunity to sign up to ‘Karl’s Kult’ in order to be notified of the launch on both Net-a-Porter and Karllagerfeld.com.
