Sugary Sweet Landscapes

Australian fine art duo Pip & Pop – the pseudonym of Nicole Andrijevic and Tanya Schultz – are currently exhibiting a sweetened pastel landscape installation at the Children’s Art Centre, Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Australia.

Titled We Miss You Magic Land!, the exhibition includes areas of fluorescent sculpture that combine children’s fairy tales with folk myths. The artists use a variety of materials including sugar, glitter, modelling clay and mirror segments to build up their fantastical, artificial world.

Pip & Pop’s use of unconventional materials is similar to the approach of Scottish artist Karla Black, who is examined in the report Profile: Karla Black.

The exhibition runs until March 4 2012.
