Solar-Energy Paint

Mercedes-Benz Vision G-Code concept car

The Mercedes-Benz Vision G-Code concept car is finished in multi-voltaic silver paint that can generate fuel from solar and wind energy.

According to the German carmaker, the paint turns the vehicle's exterior into a giant solar panel with excellent efficiency, recovering solar energy and relaying it into the car's internal system. The paint can also harvest electrostatic energy from natural wind rushing across its surface when the vehicle is stationary.

Solar paint has previously only been able to generate low amounts of power. In the future, this innovation will potentially transform transportation and could possibly be adapted for other industrial designs as we look at alternative fuel sources.
