Haagen-Dazs Ice Moon

London-based design studio Doshi Levien – founded by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien – has collaborated with US ice-cream manufacturer Haagen-Dazs to create experimental ice-cream cakes called Ice Moons.

Inspired by cinematic moon voyages, the Ice Moons are pitted with smooth craters. The designers say: “Our concept is almost spherical, so the ice cream has to be moulded in two separate parts and then put together, concealing the join.”

The White Moon boasts a pistachio biscuit base, layers of macadamia ice cream, meringue and a coating of raspberry ice cream. For more examples of designers getting creative with edibles, see the report Ice Cream Dream.
