Sound-Absorbing Booths by Buzzi Space
Antwerp-based design studio Buzzi Space – experts in design with an acoustic bent – has created a series of innovative pop-up booths to provide users with a greater degree of privacy in public spaces.
Fulfilling the desire for quiet space within the noise-saturated modern world, BuzziBooths, and their smaller sister product BuzziHoods, are acoustic cocoons fabricated in 100% recycled PET felt. This insulates the sound produced within them, and dampens the noise from outside. The standalone BuzziBooths include room for individual seating, while the more diminutive wall-mounted BuzziHoods are enclosures for users to stand in.
A quilt-effect padded lining helps the booths blend into the surrounding décor. Their scale and functionality makes them suitable for installation anywhere – from busy open-concept workspaces to home-offices. They also come in a range of neutral colours and textures, adding to the underlying concept of comfort and tranquility.
The design responds directly to the growing consumer appetite for respite from the distractions of a hyper-connected world, as well as trends in working culture, which is seeing many companies prosper from the creation of splinter groups and pockets of quiet away from the main group.
