EV Technology Focus

EV – Electric Vehicles – are a hot topic at Ceatec, the advanced technologies show in Japan.

Speaking of the Mitsubishi iMiEV, Setsuhiro Shimomura, Mitsubishi chairman, acknowledged the disruptive nature of EV technology, requiring significant energy infrastructure change to create recharging points. The solution, he says, will be found in collaboration: “Companies need to be flexible and not divide into industry verticals. We must work together for EVs to work.”

Mitsuhiko Yamashita, executive VP of Nissan, echoed this, highlighting its Smart Grid research programme with GE. He said: “An electric future needs collaboration and social infrastructure change.”
