Vetements: Pushing the Boundaries of Collaboration

Vetements' much anticipated Spring show – taking place next Sunday at the Galerie Lafayette, Paris – will feature collaborations with an unprecedented 18 brands in a move that celebrates iconic pieces, reinvention and authenticity.

The 18 partners are diverse and reflect Vetements’ pick of brands it feels are 100% authentic in what they do – including Manolo Blahnik for high heels, Brioni for tailoring, and even Juicy Couture for its velour tracksuits. Their most recognisable designs are then reinvented and subverted in true Vetements style, while the collaborating brands deal with the manufacturing in order to maintain the integrity and authenticity of the pieces.

It’s not the first time that Vetements has explored collaboration in this way – it’s part of the brand’s identity. However, it’s the first time a whole collection has been built collaboratively with such a huge number of partners. It also reflects the celebration of key pieces that go beyond trend as part of a more simplified and seasonless approach to dressing – a topic we’ll be exploring in our forthcoming industry report The New Fashion Landscape.
