London 2012: CitizenM Reports

Dutch hotel chain CitizenM is hosting a two-week citizen journalism course at its London Bankside location during the Olympics to celebrate the best of the capital this summer – excluding sports.

Organised in collaboration with The London College of Communication, CitizenM Reports invites both hotel guests and the public to learn how to report on a range of cultural topics concerning “everything but sports”. The event takes place between July 30 and August 10 2012.

Free daily workshops on topics such as street-style photography and ‘foodie London’ are being held alongside talks from speakers such as photographer Homer Sykes and illustrator Mr Bingo. The resulting work can be seen on the CitizenM Reports microsite and a Twitter hash tag.

“As a new neighbour, we really wanted to capture what happens to a city like London when the Olympics comes to town. We invite hotel guests and Londoners alike to document the vibrant atmosphere of the city during this exciting time,” said Robin Chadha, CitizenM’s chief marketing officer.
