New Season Collaborations at John Lewis

British brand John Lewis has teamed up with a series of designers to create a limited edition line of sunglasses for spring/summer 2011.

Todd Lynn, Tatty Devine, Eley Kishimoto and Beatrix Ong have designed two pairs each, covering a range of styles – from Lynn's modern men's aviators to Tatty Devine's flamboyantly retro 1970s-inspired bow-shaped designs, and Kishimoto's red and white wayfarers.

The girls at accessories company Tatty Devine, pictured above, kept their signature retro style very much in mind when designing the new pieces. "We wanted to make something glamorous, distinctive as well as being fun, and decided to work around the idea of a bow tie,” they said.

“We love the way the shape has an oversized 1970s feel, but at the same time has the essence of a cat eye lens.”

Todd Lynn, meanwhile, has drawn on both past and future aesthetics. "The glasses have a retro feel in the materials and styling, but have a modern shape. It's important to mix design up with the past and the future."

The collection is John Lewis's first eyewear designer collaboration and will be available in stores and online from May.
