The Knife Maker

The Knife Maker is the latest film in a project by Brooklyn-based company Made By Hand.

Tapping into our continuing fascination with the provenance of materials and processes, Made By Hand, founded by Keith Ehrlich, celebrates the stories behind life’s fundamentals. The films aim to promote things made locally, sustainably, and with a love for craft.

Joel Bukiewicz is a writer-turned-knife maker. He owns Cut Brooklyn in New York, making handmade knives for home and professional cooks. Bukiewicz’s poignant film talks about the human element of craft, and the real meaning of handmade. The next in the series is The Beekeeper – telling the story of how Megan Paska turned rooftop beekeeping from a hobby into a career.
