Tea for One: Side Table by DesignK

UK-based studio DesignK has created a sweet side table inspired by the custom of traditional English afternoon tea. The small table is designed for one person and is sized to hold a cup of tea or a cupcake, allowing the user to put “your food or drink on a pedestal – literally”.

Designed by the studio’s founder Byung Kil Kim, the table is handcrafted from solid ash wood, with an inbuilt ceramic plate. The legs are either wrapped with coloured waxed cotton strings, or with saddle-stitched natural leather in the classic version. A personalised version of the table can also be created, by adding a printed image to the ceramic plate.

Launched at trade show Tent London during London Design Festival (September 14-22), the table is available through DesignK’s website. For more London Design Festival coverage, see the Stylus Events report, London Design Festival.
