Prism Paintings by Shannon Finley

Berlin-based artist Shannon Finley applies numerous translucent layers of acrylic paint and industrial polymers to canvas using specially designed palette knives.

Finley’s use of layered colour and texture result in prism-like surfaces that draw on a visual history of geometric abstraction in painting, as well as the reductive language of early computer graphics. The works create highly digital-looking objects that blur the lines between painting and sculpture.
