Raf Simons & Mercedes-Benz: Avant/Garde Diaries

Jil Sander designer Raf Simons is to curate a three-day project in association with Mercedes-Benz called The Avant/Garde Diaries. The exhibition will be shown at the Berlin Congress Center this weekend, and will include 10 different designer musings on the concept of avant-garde.

The project has been shrouded in secrecy, with only a distorted video released so far. From the scant information available, it is known that the project will fuse art, music, fashion, design and film, and it is anticipated to tour worldwide after Berlin.

Self-trained Belgian fashion designer Simons joined Italian fashion house Jil Sander in 2005 as creative director and designer, receiving critical acclaim and press coverage for his collections. After Mercedes-Benz’ recent announcement that it will be head sponsor for Australian Fashion Week as of November this year, this project demonstrates the German manufacturer's continued commitment to supporting fashion and design projects.

The Avant/Garde Diaries runs from 13-15 July. Ticket details are yet to be released.
