Patagonia's Glacial Ice Bar

Highlighting the popularity of extreme experiences, the world’s first glacial ice bar opened this month just outside El Calafate in Argentina’s Patagonia region.

Designed to resemble a series of ice blocks, the bar is the latest addition to the town’s Glaciarium, a 25,000 sq ft museum overlooking the mountaintops of Los Glaciares National Park.

The ice bar follows on from the success of similar venues in sites including Orlando, London and Stockholm – but it’s the first in the world to be built from actual glacial ice.

Visitors to the bar don capes, gloves and boots before spending a limited time of 20 minutes sampling the house cocktail – a blend of the Amaro spirit Fernet and Coca-Cola – inside the unique venue.
