Street Tag App

British TV broadcaster Channel 4 has released a new app for the iPhone, allowing users to virtually graffiti public spaces in real time using augmented reality – without the illegal implications.

Developed to coincide with Channel 4’s street summer series celebrating art, hip-hop and urban culture in the UK, the free application features a spray mode where users can create graffiti tags, edit paint colours and nozzle sizes, and, using geo-tagging, view other people’s work and leave their own.

Aside from clever advertising on Channel 4’s part, the app also provides an outlet for creative anarchy – poignant, considering the recent civil unrest in the UK.
