Kartell by Laufen Bathroom

A new bathroom created by Swiss manufacturer Laufen in collaboration with Italian furniture company Kartell features minimal shapes and linear styling reminiscent of the pared-down aesthetic featured in the Stylus Interiors Autumn/Winter 2014-15 Industry Trend, Composed.

Both companies’ enthusiasm for material and technological innovation is present in the design by Milan-based architects Ludovica and Roberto Polomba. The cohesive design features geometric ceramic bathroom pieces combined seamlessly with coloured and transparent plastic furniture and details.

The bathroom also includes the first basins made from SaphirKeramik, an innovative ceramic and plastic composite developed by Laufen that can be used to make ultra-thin basins. The material is incredibly light – almost half the weight of regular ceramic – and is also less likely to scratch and able to withstand harsh chemical cleaners.

The bathroom will makes its debut at the Milan Furniture Fair (April 9-14 2013) during Milan Design Week. Look out for more Stylus coverage of Milan Design Week, coming soon.
