Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea

Yeosu in South Korea is currently hosting the Expo 2012 world fair. This year’s theme is The Living Ocean and Coast, celebrating the sea’s impact on our lives and shedding light on the need for marine protection.

Featuring 250,000 sq m of exhibitions from more than 100 countries, expo organisers are expecting 8 million visitors. They will get a taste of the ocean’s future, with large-scale immersive augmented reality exhibits showcasing advancements in marine technology and sustainable practice. Other attractions include a robotics pavilion – the largest single pavilion at Expo 2012. It will highlight the role robots will play in our future, featuring Korea’s tallest robot.

Continuing the future technology focus of the event, people who are unable to visit the expo can explore it online through a 3D virtual reality game.

Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea runs until August 2012. Read more about how humans will partner with robots to extend their physical capabilities in Robots-Humans: New Partners.
