Maaike Roozenburg: Ceramic Tiles

Dutch designer Maaike Roozenburg is exhibiting a tile collection that takes inspiration from plastic crates at this week’s Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.

The series uses intaglio relief, a technique that creates different colour intensities depending on the surface texture of the object. Where the relief of the tile allows glaze to build up, a more intense, opaque colour is produced resulting in rich hues.

Roozenburg’s work will be exhibited at Eindhoven’s Onomatopee space by the European Ceramic Work Centre (EKWC).

Dutch Design Week runs from October 23 to 30 2011.
