Ikea Digital Camera

Swedish furniture brand Ikea, synonymous with flat-pack living, has designed an ultra low-cost digital camera. The Knäppa (Swedish for ‘click’) is made from cardboard and naturally requires self-assembly.

The pared-down device does without features such as a digital screen or zoom, instead opting for a cutout in the cardboard which acts as viewfinder. It can store up to 40 snaps. Customers in Germany are being encouraged to take pictures of their homes using the camera and share them on Ikea’s Hej Community website.
