OPUS Store, Taipei

In order to meet the challenge of displaying miniature items creatively in a compact retail space, Taiwan-based Paradox Studio has designed an innovative shop fit for OPUS – a niche Taipei store specialising in handbag hooks.

The multi-functional space – used as everything from a meeting room to a showroom to a conventional store space – features walls decorated with "steps" of chunky wooden batons, which protrude from the walls at varying depths. Samples of the hooks are elegantly balanced on these unusual shelves, which are then surveyed by customers who perch at a bar-like table in front of them.

Large bobbins of thread, representative of major global cities in which the brand operates, are mounted on geometric blocks of yellow painted on the walls, adding both decoration and the illusion of depth to the diminutive, 10.5 sq m space.
