Starbucks Ski-Thru

Coffee giant Starbucks has opened the world's first ‘ski-thru’ cafe in The Squaw Valley ski resort near Lake Tahoe in California.

Operating much like a fast-food drive-thru, skiers and snowboarders can pick up refreshments without going inside for the ultimate on-the-go cup of coffee. Squaw Valley's president and chief executive Andy Wirth said: "Nowhere else in the world can skiers and riders enjoy a delicious Starbucks coffee without missing a beat on the slopes."

Launched last month, it’s the latest in a spate of recent promotional initiatives for the global coffee chain, including offering alcohol at some of its US locations, and launching a Starbucks Lab concept store in Amsterdam.
