CitizenM’s New London Hotel

Dutch hospitality group CitizenM, known for its modular budget hotels, has launched in London’s emerging South Bank area.

Designed by Dutch design studio Concrete, the hotel consists of 192 identical minimalist 14-square-metre rooms, which were prefabricated off site. Guests can customise the room specifications, such as lighting and music, to suit their mood via an iPad control.

CitizenM believes global travellers want to spend their leisure time outside of their hotel room, therefore appreciating hotel design that’s minimal and functional – with a comfy and chic living room space.

CitizenM Bankside is the group’s fourth hotel, adding to its locations in Amsterdam, Holland and Glasgow, Scotland. Rapid expansion is planned with three more hotels in development in London, two in Paris and two in New York. The company also has preliminary plans to bring the concept to Asia.
