Extreme Hotels Coming to Sochi, Russia

A 209-bedroom Extreme Hotel – part of a new chain – will open in Sochi in early 2015 for domestic and international travellers.

The hotel will be strategically located next to the Alpine Ski slopes and close to the Snow Board Park (both developed for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games) in what the hotel chain claims will be one of the best extreme sports locations in the world.

Sochi has recently won its bid to host the Formula 1 Grand Prix, as well as the Winter Olympics – two events it hopes will help rebrand the outdated Black Sea resort and attract the international travel market.

Extreme Hotels will develop and operate a collection of branded action sports facilities and an Extreme Park with snowboard and freestyle centre. It is hoped that this will help differentiate the destination from more notable ski resorts.

There are currently more than 165 million extreme sports enthusiasts worldwide, and it continues to be a growing market sector. The hotel brand hopes to capitalise upon this growing market by providing a social environment for those who crave stylish winter sports adventures.
