Marimekko Collaborates with Finnair

Finnish design house Marimekko has designed a range of textiles and tableware for Finnish airline Finnair. The products will be used on-board all Finnair flights from spring 2013.

The collection, which includes teapots, cups, plates and napkins, features Marimekko’s signature bold, bright patterns. During the three-year collaboration, a selection of Marimekko products will be available to buy in-flight, as well as from the Finnair Plus Shop.

Two aircraft have also been chosen to feature Marimekko prints. The first – an airbus that flies between Helsinki and Asia – has already been covered in Marimekko’s iconic 1964 floral print.

The collaboration is part of a Finnair strategy to improve customer experience. It is also intended to increase brand awareness for both companies in the Asia-Pacific market.
