New Orleans - Fertile Ground for Entrepreneurs

The historic Chateau Bourbon Hotel in New Orleans’ French Quarter is to be refurbished and reopened as a Hyatt. The overhaul, slated to be complete by mid-2012, will increase the number of rooms and feature changes to the food and beverage operations.

New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and was also hit by the global economic crisis and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010. But its outlook is hopeful, attracting investment from new and established businesses.

Patrick Comer, CEO of Federated Sample – a market research technology firm started in New Orleans in 2010 – says: “It’s the smart thing to do to start a company in New Orleans right now.”
