Wanderlust Hotel, Singapore

Independently-owned and intriguing new hotels are colouring Singapore's often bland hotelscape. An intriguing new boutique hotel in bustling Little India district is one such opening, with its left field and whimsical design. Singapore-based design agencies, Asylum, phunk Studio, DP Architects and fFurious, were all given free reign to devise 29 rooms across four levels.

Cartoonish and witty, a stark white room (pictured) furnished simply with just a bed, flatscreen TV and a glass-encased bathtub also features backlit graphic drawings of  iconic (but absent) furniture, including the Mae West lips sofa by Dali, Arco lamp and an Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair.
