Tommy Bahama’s Asian Expansion, Via Macau

After its recent success in the US, Seattle-based fashion retailer, Tommy Bahama has expanded into the Asian market by opening its first boutique in China at the Venetian Resort in Macau.

Already proven to be a popular choice with Asian consumers based in America, aided by a strong presence in Hawaii, the brand is aiming to capitalise on its grasp of the market by opening stores in Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong later this year.

International brands once considered it essential to launch a flagship presence in Hong Kong. However, Tommy Bahama is continuing a growing tendency set by US retailers including Victoria’s Secret and Alexander Wang to bypass the city of favour of Macau, Beijing and Shanghai as alternate gateways to the greater Chinese market.
