Milan: Nendo – Lacquered Paper Objects

Prolific Japanese design studio Nendo has created a new collection, Lacquered Paper Objects. Commissioned by the Nilufar Gallery in Milan, the vessels will go on show next week as part of Milan Design Week 2012.

Combining new technology with age-old craft, each vessel is created from sheets of paper pasted together by a 3D printer to form a solid block of material. The block is then hand-carved and lacquered, creating a surface texture that resembles wood – a nod to the material’s origin.
