Cleaning gets an update with beautifully crafted tools, while clever storage solutions keep interiors tidy. These new products take the bore out of chores by being practical as well as easy on the eye.
- Form Follows Function: Icelandic designer Anna Gudmundsdottir has created a homeware collection in close collaboration with Swedish manufacturers – allowing their skills and knowledge to inform the designs. The collection features different wooden brushes, including a dustpan and brush, toilet brush and dishwasher brush, accompanied by a holder. Simple geometric shapes and the combination of wood, metal and marbled synthetics rid these products of their usual throwaway feel.
- Tidy Home Office: The computer combi brush from Swedish manufacturer Iris Hantverk has been specially designed for cleaning keyboards with one side and computer monitors with the other, without creating static electricity. The brushes are handcrafted from wood and horsehair by visually impaired craftsmen.
- Colourful Pantry: Dutch brand Brabantia’s new spring collection Tasty Colours includes strong plastic canisters with silicone sealed lids in red, pink and mint green. Due to their square shape and the edged lid, the containers can be securely stacked to save precious cupboard space, or used to organise other areas in the home.
