Converse: Design and Sell Your Own

American footwear brand Converse is currently trialling its Converse Create platform (allowing consumers to design their own product) on social media site Facebook, which aims to showcase consumer creativity.

Although little is being revealed as yet (the service is still being tested by a group of fans), the app should offer consumers the chance to design their own Converse sneakers, share and sell them to their friends and potentially even open their own online stores on Facebook. Tester slots on Converse’s Made By Facebook page are currently all filled – suggesting its clear potential at this early stage.

Nathan Cooper, creative director of Anomaly, the New York agency behind the campaign, has discussed the project on his blog, suggesting its potential. “Converse has some 40,000,000+ Facebook friends, a lot of which feel very passionate about the brand. What if you turned the fans of a brand into the retailers?"
