Saul’s Shopping Village

Somerset native Roger Saul, founder of fashion and accessories brand Mulberry, is hoping to revitalise the town of Shepton Mallet by opening a designer shopping village there later this month. The new retail destination, which will sit next to the Mulberry factory, aims to cater for the 130,000 visitors who currently flock to the Mulberry factory shop every year.

Upset by the current state of the town centre – which Saul has described as a “disaster” – the entrepreneur (who still lives in Somerset) hopes that the outlet village will bring much-needed regeneration to the area.

A number of other high-profile retailers including sports fashion brand Fred Perry, and menswear company Duchamp, are set to open stores on the Kilver Court site that used to house the Mulberry textile factory. Saul still owns the site, despite no longer sitting on the Mulberry board.
