Jameson1780.com: An Immersive Web Experience in Action

Irish whiskey brand Jameson has joined forces with San Francisco brand-building digital creative agency Evolution Bureau (EVB), and London-based digital creative production company Unit 9, to launch an interactive mystery game – Jameson1780.com.

Through Facebook, players are invited to travel back to 1780s Dublin at the time of Jameson’s founder, John Jameson, to ‘Solve the Quandary of the Missing Barrel’. The game then uses the player’s Facebook profile information to create a personalised experience. Through an interactive map, the player meets and accepts challenges from townsfolk in a bid to collect clues which will then help the user identify the culprit – one of the user’s own Facebook friends – behind the theft.

The game’s creators made use of the same high production values and sound storytelling that Jameson’s audience has grown accustomed to in the brand’s print and award-winning television advertising campaigns.

Jameson is one of an increasing number of brands turning to social media and gamification in order to market themselves effectively.
