Francesco Lo Castro: Geometric Layered Artwork

Italian artist Francesco Lo Castro overlays multi-coloured graphic shapes in his Geometric painting series. He achieves intriguing optical illusions and blurred 3D effects by layering spray paint, epoxy resin, acrylic and gold leaf on wood.

Bright, saturated hues and graphic shapes are set against flat backgrounds to create a sense of depth. Graduating colour and translucent tinted marks are applied for varying tonal colour effects.

The work is aligned with the influx of creatives experimenting with overlaying colour and image, as highlighted in our Layered Colour report.
