London-based design studio Vinaya has launched a crowdfunding campaign for Zenta – a designer biometric wearable that offers a holistic view of the wearer's emotional and physical wellbeing, taking into account fertility, sleep, activity, mood and more.
Zenta cross-references smartphone data – including social media usage, calendar and location – with physiological cues collected through sensing technology, such as heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, respiration, perspiration and temperature. In so doing, the device can analyse emotional responses over time and recommend ways to halt negative behaviour patterns.
"The purpose of this is to collect data from all different aspects of your life," founder Kate Unsworth told Business Insider. "So not just your biometrics, but also how many emails are you sending? Who to? How much time do you spend on social media? How many meetings do you have a day? Who are you spending your time with?"
Vinaya also plans to roll out a citywide emotion-tracking feature, which would reveal how physical spaces make people feel collectively, via location-based data visualisations. Priced from $119, Zenta is due to start shipping in March 2017.
