MoMA's Art Lab App for Kids

New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has released Art Lab – an iPad app that taps into the movement towards digitalising the ways in which people experience art. The app encourages children to experiment and play.

The app is based on MoMA’s child-friendly Material Lab space, which allows children to create their own art through digital painting programs. The app takes these programs mobile. It offers six different activities, giving a brief overview of an artistic style and instructions on how to follow that style. It prompts children to learn more about art through interactive and informative games.

Similarly, London’s Tate Modern has made efforts to heighten museumgoers’ experiences through its new apps, Race Against Time and Magic Tate Ball.
