International hotel company Starwood has launched a new app for its guest reward programme, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), to provide a personalised travel experience across all nine of its hotel brands.
The app lets customers browse travel options at all of Starwood’s individual brands, making reservations for upcoming trips easy. The go-to app assists customers at every step of the travel process and utilises state-aware technology that changes the look and content of the app based on whether the user is planning, in transit or checked-in at the hotel. Around-the-clock support from the SPG team is also provided; users can even speak to a real person via FaceTime. Users are also able to access other social media platforms such as Facebook and Foursquare through the app.
Starwood has found that customers who book via mobile devices have different booking patterns to those who use traditional web booking. The app should help Starwood reinforce its connection with mobile users. It sets a prime example of how others in hospitality can connect with today’s tech-savvy consumer.
