London-based gastronomic duo Bompas & Parr have teamed up with US domestic appliance company KitchenAid to imagine the fantastical food of the future.
In conjunction with the launch of KitchenAid’s 6.9L Artisan Stand Mixer, Bompas & Parr are staging an interactive event and publishing a report entitled “Future of Food and Preparation” towards the end of March.
The evening will explore ideas surrounding future nutrition and the social and experiential possibilities of a meal. The food takes inspiration from some of the greatest science fiction novels. Guests can expect low-gravity food and synthetic meat inspired by Frederik Pohl and Cyril Kornbluth’s novel, The Space Merchants, among other unworldly delights.
Harry Parr says: “The process of science fiction prototyping has the goal of starting conversations around food and the future. This is important as the future is not set and, by talking about it and trying things out, you can help shape it.”
A Culinary Odyssey takes place on March 21 2012.
