Ebay’s London Pop-Up Shop

Taking a handful of its online offerings offline for a limited time, internet auction site eBay will open a pop-up store in London’s Soho district next week on December 1.

For five days only, the retailer will open a physical space, showcasing only a small amount of eBay’s bestselling products. None of these will be available to take home, however – instead, each will have its own QR code, which when scanned will take customers to the checkout on eBay’s website. The item will then be delivered to the shopper’s door just a few days later.

There will also be a section with tablet computers, enabling shoppers to browse eBay’s website in-store. The initiative is similar to US retailer Walmart’s mini stores, which allows customers to physically interact with products before making the final purchase online.
