45 Park Lane Opens

Earlier this month, the Dorchester Collection launched its ninth property – 45 Park Lane – in London, designed by architect Thierry W. Despont.

The contemporary 45-bedroom hotel with Art Deco influences may be located just moments from its sister hotel, The Dorchester, but in terms of style and technology, it's a world apart. Rooms even include bathroom mirrors with integrated television screens.

Hotel manager Marie-Laure Akdag commented: "45 Park Lane will provide a sophisticated and discreet London address for a new generation of travellers." It boasts Austrian-American celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck's Cut steak restaurant – his first UK outpost – and features a wine and cocktail bar, a residents' library and private media room.

This latest hotel signals a development in The Dorchester Collection's market strategy, and a realisation that the emerging younger traveller seeking luxury experiences favours an innovative approach over traditional experiences.
