Jumeirah Partners with Chinese Search Engine

Dubai-based hotel chain Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts (part of the Jumeirah Group) has partnered with Chinese travel service Ctrip to allow Chinese travellers to directly book Jumeirah properties through the Ctrip.com website.

Jumeirah expects the number of Chinese visitors to its global properties to grow by 14% in 2013. The company is expanding in China, with five future hotel projects currently in development, including properties in Guangzhou, Macau and Sanya (see Hainan: Hawaii of the East for more on Sanya).

Partnering with a search engine such as Ctrip.com could help broaden Jumeirah’s reach in China, where more than 80% of the population research their travel destinations online. While the majority of trips are currently booked through travel agents, online booking is expected to boom in the next few years. Read more about this in Meet the Chinese Travellers
