British Fashion Awards 2011: The Winners
Sarah Burton, head designer at Alexander McQueen, was crowned ‘Designer of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards last night.
Burton took up the role of creative director at Alexander McQueen after the designer’s death in 2010, and has consistently impressed with her collections for the label. She also designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress for 2011’s British royal wedding.
Other winners included Victoria Beckham, who scooped the award for Designer Brand of the Year; Christopher Kane, who won the newly launched New Establishment Award; and Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Raeburn, who won the Emerging Talent Award for men’s and womenswear respectively.
The annual awards ceremony is organised by the British Fashion Council. The full list of winners is available online now.
