The Transformation House
A unique proposal for an interactive, transformable living space has been unveiled by US-based architect Michael Jantzen. Dubbed the Transformation House, the eco-focused structure can adapt its form to make the most of its environment.
The cylindrical structure is formed from five modular, lightweight steel centre sections, large curved windows and a glass floor that runs the length of the space. The cylindrical sections can be made to rotate a full 360 degrees – either manually or in response to climate conditions – to make the most of sunlight and capture solar energy.
Photovoltaic cells embedded in the exterior generate solar power. The shape of the façade has also been engineered to collect rainwater and allow slipstreams of wind as ventilation.
The flexibility of the space allows the tenant to personalise the home to their required needs; extra segments can be added to the structure to increase the size of the home.
Furnishings are stored within four semi-circular containers that can rotate out of the floor when they are needed.
