Thom Browne to Show at St Petersburg Fashion Week

American designer Thom Browne will be the first US designer to show his Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection at Aurora Fashion Week (AFW) in Russia next month.

Closing the fashion week in St Petersburg on April 14 2012, the Thom Browne show will feature 20 looks from both the men’s and womenswear collections. The show is part of Russian Seasons – a cultural exchange programme established by the US embassy in Moscow in 2009.

Thom Browne is already stocked in a few stores in Russia, and Browne is keen to strengthen his brand within the Russian market. Russian lifestyle magazine Depesha initially approached him about showing at the event as his quintessentially American aesthetic and theatrical approach to catwalk fashion appealed for the American programme at AFW.

Browne has been showing at Paris Fashion Week since 2010, and has previously collaborated with Moncler to create a collection of active sportswear called Moncler Gamme Bleu. In addition to Browne, AFW will include 40 shows from international designers, and is expected to exceed 20,000 visitors, placing the event in Eastern Europe’s top three fashion weeks.

AFW runs from April 10-14 2012.
