Best in Show

Sao Paulo Fashion Week, now in its 16th year, is on the cusp of a major structural change. This season’s edition will reportedly mark the last held in its current location – Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer’s Bienal building (opened in 1957) in the Parque Ibirapuera.

And there are plans to co-ordinate more closely with international fashion weeks; Winter 2013 will be shown this year in October, and Summer 2013-14 collections will follow in March 2013. While this appears to directly oppose the main international fashion weeks (cities in the northern hemisphere show Spring/Summer collections in autumn and Autumn/Winter collections in spring), labels and organisers believe it will enable better business practices and facilitate deliveries.
