Shanghai Park Pavillions

Inspired by the diversity of Chinese recreational culture, Taranta Creations has developed a collection of raised pavilions in Bailianjing Park, near the former Shanghai Expo 2010 site.

Powered by wind turbines and built on stilts, the vibrant pavilions overlook the Huangpu River, serving as a reminder of the threat of flooding to the area as a result of rising sea levels and subsiding land.

Varying in shape and size, the pods will host an array of typical Chinese activities, including tai chi, dancing, karaoke, drinking tea or playing the traditional game of mahjong.
