New Zealand Fashion Week

New Zealand’s bi-annual fashion week will draw to a close tomorrow after six days of fashion shows and events at the recently opened Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland, North Island.
The event showcased 52 designer catwalk shows by New Zealand-based designers, including many contemporary emerging brands such as Blak, Zambesi, Stole Girlfriends Club, Lonely Hearts, Two Wonders and Salasai. Founded in 2001, New Zealand Fashion Week celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
Shopping event New Zealand Fashion Weekend – which is open to the public and now in its sixth year – takes place on Friday September 2 and Saturday September 3 in the Fashion Week venue. The event costs $20 for entry and features catwalk shows, live music, DJs and a designer garage sale, sponsored by newspaper the Sunday Star-Times.
As part of the catwalk schedule, New Zealand Fashion Week presented the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Show today (September 2 2011), which featured Kiwi designers Kathryn Leah Payne, Sakaguchi, Caroline Moore, Mister, Eclipse and Angela Stone. The charity show was staged in aid of those affected by the devastating earthquake in February that killed 181 people in Christchurch and the surrounding area, South Island.
New Zealand Fashion Week ran from August 29 to September 3 2011.
