Marimekko Helsinki: Tähdellistä – Crystal & Ceramic

Iconic Finnish clothing and homeware store Marimekko is currently showcasing a unique collection of ceramic and glass tableware by young Finnish designers Mari Isopahkala and Sami Ruotsalainen in Helsinki.
Presented in Marikiska – Marimekko’s gallery-style store in the heart of Helsinki’s Design District – the Tähdellistä collection highlights an unusual union of traditional materials. Modern Scandinavian-style cut-glass crystal glasses, tumblers and carafes are mixed with simple red terracotta clay thumb-pots, and clean white ceramic bowls.
Every month, the store will introduce a different facet to the Marimekko design philosophy by showcasing new products and experimental launches in a gallery-style setting. The current exhibition will run until April 30 2012.
Helsinki is the World Design Capital 2012: a year-long programme of design events, exhibitions, discussions happening all over the city. Keep tuned for further findings from Stylus' recent visit to the Finnish capital.
