NYC Comes to Australia: The Everleigh

Yet another bar tapping into the 1930s-era speakeasy vibe is The Everleigh in Melbourne, Australia.

A joint venture between Sasha Petraske (who also owns London/New York members club Milk & Honey) and two of her long-serving employees, Michael Madrusan and Lauren Schell, The Everleigh offers a more relaxed atmosphere than its foreign counterparts. They feel this resonates better with the Australian public.

While easing up on the strict membership rules of Milk & Honey, The Everleigh’s intimate interior similarly celebrates the sophistication and glamour of old-world drinking establishments. Named after a circa-1900 high-class Chicago brothel, the interior features candlelit mahogany booths, vintage chandeliers, and a soft golden glow from the tableside candlelight.
