Building Fashion’s Ohne Titel Pop-Up

The fifth and final instalment of not-for-profit art organisation Boffo’s Building Fashion series of pop-up shops – in which New York fashion designers and architects are paired up to create one-of-a-kind retail spaces – has launched in NYC. This time, it’s the turn of womenswear label Ohne Titel, which has created a geometric, puzzle-like store in collaboration with international architects Easton + Combs.
Spanning 167sq m, the shop’s layout leads customers on a retail journey through a series of spaces lit to varying degrees. Freestanding and interlocking red aluminium walls resonate beautifully with Ohne Titel’s structured clothing. Easton + Combs assembled the two, puzzle-like 12ft-high walls on site – without nails, screws, or glue – then wove clear plastic tubes throughout the structures, allowing clothing to be displayed at various angles and heights.

The shop ends its two-week Manhattan run tomorrow (December 14 2011).
